The Big Tex 70CH is the trailer most people picture when they say "car hauler," and there's a reason it's been the company's most popular model for decades.

Eighteen feet of deck at a full 83 inches wide means a car sits between the fenders, not on them — you get real room to open a door and get out once it's loaded. The slide-in ramps store under the deck and pull out when you need them, so you're not lashing loose ramps to the frame or leaving them in the driveway. Stake pockets run the full perimeter, which gives you tie-down points anywhere along the load instead of four fixed rings in the wrong spots.

Tandem 3,500 lb axles give it a 7,000 lb GVWR and roughly 5,000 lbs of payload — enough for the vast majority of cars, most half-ton pickups, a compact tractor, a skid steer attachment, a side-by-side, or a load of lumber and building material.

This is a 2002, and we list it honestly: it's a working trailer, not a show piece. The frame is straight, the lights work, the brakes are serviced, the deck is solid, and it tows dead level. It has the scratches and faded paint you'd expect from a trailer that has earned its keep for two decades. What it doesn't have is surprises.

Open-deck haulers are also the easy choice for first-time towers. You can see your load, you can see your tires, and there's no tall box catching crosswind on the turnpike.

Before you book

Can your vehicle tow it? Loaded to its rating this trailer is 7,000 lbs. You want a half-ton pickup or a properly rated full-size SUV, a 2 5/16" ball on a Class IV hitch, a 7-pin connector, and a working brake controller. Send us your vehicle's year, make, and model and we'll confirm before you pay.

Know your load weight. Payload is roughly 5,000 lbs. Most cars and small SUVs are fine. A three-quarter-ton pickup, a full-size truck, or a mid-size tractor may exceed it — check the curb weight of what you're hauling and ask us if it's close.

Bring your own straps, or add ours. We include 4 ratchet straps; wheel-strap and axle-strap sets are available as add-ons. Every load gets four independent tie-downs, no exceptions.

Load balance matters. Weight goes over and slightly ahead of the axles. Too far back and the trailer will sway at speed, which is the single most common way people get in trouble with an open hauler. We'll go through it with you at pickup.

Open deck, open weather. Anything you haul is exposed to rain, road spray, and salt. If that's a problem for your load, look at our enclosed trailer instead.
